2. Avial

“Politically-aware and ideologically driven”, that’s how Rave, one of India’s top music magazines, described Malayali rock band Avial in its October 2006 issue. While it’s true that the lyrics of many songs featured in the band’s debut album ~ AVIAL ~ reflects on a deep sense of eternal timeless awareness, there is a good chance that the global listener relates to the album simply because its musically sound.

With elements of Indie rock and folk, embedded in each of the eight songs featured in their fist album, Avial has managed to mix to perfection and share with its listeners an altogether unique sound, what the band member’s calls “alternative Malayali rock”.

2. TAAQ

Picture1

Thermal And A Quarter is the musical voice of modern India that speaks the language of the world. Before you even dream of asking the question, we have nothing to do with Bollywood.  We are 12 years old. We have released four albums and have enough material for two three four more. On stage, we have had anywhere from two (yes, two) to nine members. But we have always found equilibrium at three. If you want to know our names, we are Bruce Lee Mani, Rajeev Rajagopal and Rzhude.

Our first recording was done with one thousand bucks (rupees, not dollars) at Ebi Studios, Banaswadi, Bangalore-560050. Our fourth album was mixed at A.R. Rahman’s AM Studios, Chennai, produced by Jeff Peters (The Beach Boys, Ringo Starr, Sarah Brightman, Khaled, Cheb Mami, The Indigo Girls and Live Aid, to drop some names) and mastered at Joe Gastwirt Mastering, California. That’s some economics-political science-geography lesson, alle?  We are the only rock band from India to be featured on National Public Radio’s All Things Considered. We have supported Jethro Tull and Deep Purple on tour. We won the WorldSpace Award for ‘Outstanding Contribution to Indian Rock’ in 2007. The trophy is on the wall. We don’t mind being called TAAQ, if you promise to capitalize the abbreviation and not insert full stops. Period. Thermal And A Quarter is perhaps the only rock band in the world that has not written a single song with the word ‘baby’ in it.

With this you know the kind of band they are – enjoy the music!!!!

Infernal Wrath is an extreme metal band from Mumbai.

Infernal Wrath-The name itself explains the band’s attitude, its aggression to the core.

We are new in the scene but all of us have been playing for past 4 years in the underground metal scene.

Aggression to the core is the war cry of Infernal Wrath.

In 2005, the band’s members come together with a one-point manifesto. The point is to play what they want to. What they want to play is brutal, melodic old school; ambient, spiritual metal the name reflects their musical attitude.

Infernal Wrath is an act of will by its members. Their lyrical influences range from apocalyptic texts across world scripture, and their music would be Ambient Spiritual Metal

Gigging their way through the underground rock circuit through the country, the band hijacks amygdales in major festivals in Mumbai, Bangalore, Delhi and elsewhere. Instant crowd favorites and moshpit messiahs, Infernal Wrath leave destruction and big-voiced, exquisitely-crafted music wafting in their wake wherever they go. Infernal Wrath is also known for the acoustic instrumental set with visuals.

For all the heavy metal lovers, this will surely be great treat!
